Pomegranate juice adds a sweet, zesty flavor to this rich barbecue sauce. Black pepper imparts a deep heat that complements everything from our Pomegranate Barbecue Chicken and Bacon Flatbread to grilled meats. You can adjust the intensity of this sauce by adding a little less black pepper.

Ingredients
½ cup ketchup
½ cup pomegranate juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon ground mustard
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
¼ to ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Preparation
Stir together all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring the sauce to a simmer and then a low boil over medium-high heat. Stir often and cook until thickened, 7 to 8 minutes. Use right away or store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
