Why California?

California is the #1 producer of pomegranates in the United States. California pomegranates are grown in the San Joaquin Valley with an estimated 30,000 bearing acres. Like many of the fruits and vegetables grown in the Golden State, pomegranates thrive in hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
The California pomegranate season is October – January. California pomegranates are known world-wide as the highest quality pomegranates. They are typically larger, sweeter, brighter in color and more consistent in quality. They are also generally safer to eat due to California’s food safety controls.
California pomegranates are available nationwide wherever fresh produce is available. In addition, roughly 25% – 35% of the annual fresh pomegranate harvest is exported to South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), and Japan.
